This is a space where I’ll be sharing videos, knowledge, practical tools and small, realistic tips that may help you along your journey — whether you’re navigating perimenopause, menopause, or surgical menopause.

Unpaused was created for women who feel exhausted, confused, overwhelmed or simply not quite like themselves anymore.

And for me, it all started when I had my ovaries removed at the age of 40. I carry the BRCA gene, which meant making a decision to have my ovaries removed to prevent cancer. It was a decision, looking back I feel I wasn't informed enough, but it was the right decision for my health; both mental and physical.

When your ovaries are removed, menopause doesn’t gradually arrive. It happens immediately. One day your hormones are cycling. The next, they drop sharply.

I didn't have hot flushes, but I had anxiety, overwhelem, low mood, anger spurts, muscle fatigue, exhaustion, brain fog....and those are the ones I can think of at the top of my head. The worse was that I just didn't feel like myself anymore and didn't know what was going on.

I didn’t have was support, my hormones levels were 'normal', so I should have been fine, but I didn't feel fine. No one really explained how deeply hormones influence everything - sleep, mood, energy, metabolism, confidence, resilience. No one talked me through how to rebuild stability. I wasn’t unwell, but I didn’t feel like myself either.

And I know now I’m not alone in that, it's taken me years to feel like a new (more recognisable) me.

The gap that led to Unpaused

So many women are told this phase is “normal.” And while it is common, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. We’re often given information - sometimes medication - but not always understanding. Not always guidance. Not always reassurance.

From wanting women to understand what’s happening in their bodies. Learning practical strategies, not overwhelming life overhauls. I want to help women to feel steady, informed and supported.

This blog will be part of that.

If you’re here because you’re tired of feeling alone in it - I see you.

And I hope this space helps you feel informed, empowered and, most importantly, unpaused.
